Journals

After getting the 3 jobs - I have been frantically spinning my wheels to get started. Spending way too much time trying to get the computers set up trying to predict my workflow. Planning always seems like spinning my wheels; not getting anywhere. I guess that's why I have always waited until the last second to do anything - that way I knew exactly what needed to get done.

I will be teaching online English, journalism and digital media classes for 20 hours a week starting Monday; English 10 at night school and had my first sub-job at a junior high yesterday.

Today's job will be to get syllabi ready for night school - I knew that needed to get done this whole time but felt that getting frustrated over the thunderbird email client and pop access with my phone was more important.

So… ok… time to really work and really plan some lessons.

Journals

Well - "Ben got a job!" became the phrase of the summer. Got four, lost one – now have three. 20 hours here, sub job there – we'll make it work. I <3 Google calendar.

I should anonymize this blog – so my students can't find it. It will be my journal of reflection on how much patience I sometime need to have for this profession because of how excited I am to do it.

Have OneNote more or less (less) figured out – well, I can get it to blog anyways – we'll see. This will also be a journal for that too.

Thanks world for maybe having listened.

Right so yeah - I am a teacher now. All that old shit about learnin' to be one was funny to read again. but well yeah I made it.

Teachin' English 9 and 10 as well as Speech and Creative Writing. to a lovely group of at-risk kids in an affluenter suburb of an affluent town.

Got a carpool as more than a couple of us live in the affluent town. 25 min commute. One is 10 years younger than me and the other is 10 years older. At least they are Democrats.

It's fun, dreadful, draining and fulfilling - which is pretty much like I thought it would be.

We'll see how often I actually post here. We'll see...
Teacher Appreciation Week.... Hilarious. That is like Mothers-in-Law appreciation week.

I am going to eat brownies.

and drink wine.

and mope.

damn!

well, it's only been an assload of time since my last post.

I am still here though...

girlfriend can read the blog all she wants, she is the best!

I think perhaps that "negativity in itself is not really a negative if in it's end is to attract positives."

SKOOL WERK. yes... on to the actual point of this blog.
am almost done with all of the contracts for the rest of the summer will just need to contact Dana, my Buddhist mentor, for a future of education class.

those other contracts are for: curriculum theory, curriculum applications and the future of education; for a total of 13 more credits

to finish off the 5 I am currently working on I need a few more things - finish writing the survey of books I have read and fill gaps in I find there with 5-7 articles and a community survey.

Brad is teaching a class on John Dewey that I have attended one class of and we are excited about getting it out of just theory and applying it to the curriculum applications class as well.

So, I told you I was a counselor at a camp for capitalism right? still need to get a grip on that a bit. mostly just played with a Xubuntu install on a really old laptop the whole time.

back to writing for real,

ow

My hand really hurts. Tendinitis in the wrist from checking rich people's overpriced food out for them and putting it into very un-environmental paper bags. missed two days of work - am going to talk to my boss tomorrow about workman's comp. Two weeks worth and then quitting -

school work? not exactly sailing away... The mentor Brad went to Hawaii... I went to Nebraska. which is kind of a metaphor

I have expected Hawaii of my life and been getting Nebraska. see... Nebraska is very interesting, you just have to really look at it kind of sideways and sort of add all the literary elements yourself. and in an entirety Nebraska is then actually much more interesting than is Hawaii - everyone would still rather go to the ocean though... who wants to do all the work of adding stuff when surrounded by paradise...

yeah, my life has been a little Nebraska lately.

now that my girlfriend reads this I need to get a different blog to talk about her. or is that the point of a blog, so everyone and my girlfriend can read about our relationship going to Nebraska instead of Hawaii? No-one actually has read it (yet) but its cathartic just to write anyway.

Its hot, My hand hurts, I decided to quit smoking so I am even more of an ass than usual and I am exhausted but can't sleep... That my friends is Idaho.

nothin to very little

got Walden II today, traded it for three bags of produce I grew in the garden. I wonder what B.F.Skinner would have thought about that.

The coop is taking most of my time. and I haven't told you about working for the Business Lobby yet. I will be the head dorm counselor for the Idaho Business Week at the Northwest Nazarene University meeting of the Idaho Business Week indoctrination of Capitalism for IACI; the said business lobby of the Idaho Legislature. have I told you that I consider myself an anarcho-communist? that'll be some bloggin'.

hopefully one week working for capitalists will completely fund the attic expansion. my office in the sky.

I had to order a new mother board and processor - haven't put em in yet. still need to build trellises for the melons and beans first. not to mention the mountain of reading.

well I love you all,

ciao
